Stomach acid is vital for the breakdown of protein and for setting the right pH for the pancreas to release its digestive enzymes. It is also needed in order to destroy yeasts, parasites and other nasty bugs that enter your digestive system. Stomach acid levels can be insufficient for many reasons; including a natural decline with ageing (50% of people over 60 have low stomach acid). This means our capacity to digest food is diminished. Symptoms which may suggest low stomach acid are abdominal bloating or excess fullness immediately after eating, belching, burping or vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation, food intolerances, undigested food in stools, yeast overgrowth, iron deficiency, intestinal parasites, skin rashes, acne, anal itching, peeling or cracking fingernails, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine, mineral deficiencies and B12 deficiency.

A comprehensive mix of enzymes is included to optimise the digestive process; protease and papain from papaya (for protein digestion) lipase (for fat digestion) and amylase (for starch digestion).

Unlike many HCl formulations this one is suitable for vegetarians as it is entirely derived from vegetable sources.

Recommendation: 1-3 capsules just before a meal. This can be increased if required, under the supervision of a practitioner.
